Good News for Shepherds Like Us

Dec 24, 2025    The Rev. Dr. R. Leigh Spruill

On a quiet hillside outside Bethlehem, the first people to hear the news of Christ’s birth were shepherds—ordinary, overlooked, and weary. This Christmas sermon reflects on the surprising grace of that moment and what it means for us today. God does not wait for us to clean ourselves up or climb higher. He comes to us where we already are. In the manger, we meet a Savior who draws near to real lives, real struggles, and real hearts—and invites us to keep coming back in wonder, faith, and hope.
