The New Religion and the Myth of Progress

In this lecture, Andrew Newell gives a brief tour of the major philosophical ideas that have ushered in the predominant secular views of our age. These secular views are wielded by many if not most of the non-religious people in our lives and have strong influence on things like education, government, business, sexuality, morality, ethics, truth, and freedom. Dr. Newell helps us understand where a Biblical worldview deviates from the secular view and how we as Christians might best defend against the pitfalls of secularism and love those captured by it.

Dr. Andrew J. Newell is a member of the English Literature faculty at the University of Oxford and was named the J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis Inklings Scholar at Wycliffe Hall in 2019.
