Acts | Church Drama | Lesson Eight

This week, Sarah Gividen, our director of modern worship, returns to the studio, along with Dr. Kira Moolman Pettit. Sarah and Kira discuss Acts 11-12, including Peter’s report to the church about the Holy Spirit being gifted to the Gentiles and Peter’s miraculous escape from prison. We get to see the continual unfolding of God’s presence in these stories as He makes Himself known to all peoples, revealing Jesus Christ to be the true King of the world. 

Discussion Questions: 

Sarah and Kira talked about the swirling rumours around Peter’s meal with Cornelius and the criticism Peter received until his critics heard the whole story. Why do you think Luke (the author of Acts) included this whole testimony? 

Where do you see parallels with Peter’s escape from prison and the story of Jesus?  

Like Ananias and Sapphira, King Herod is struck down and killed. What caused Herod’s death (verse 22)? Read the verse that comes immediately afterwards. How does Acts contrast God’s power with Herod’s power? Where do we see God’s power?
