Acts | Church Drama | Lesson Eleven

Return to the story of Acts with the Rev. Trent Pettit and Dr. Kira Moolman Pettit as they cover Acts 17-18. Here we see Paul facing more accusations (including some true ones about his message changing the world!) as he continues to spread the gospel far and wide. We also hear of Paul’s preaching in the Areopagus as he takes the pagan world as the starting point for his sermon, drawing on his own cosmopolitan background and education. 

Discussion Questions: 

What do you think of the accusation of turning the world upside down in verse 6? How has Christianity changed the world historically and in the early church in Acts? 

What do you think about Paul in Athens? In the ancient world, idols were not just isolating to religion but part of social, economic, and political life. The same is true today. What are the idols that you see the Holy Spirit addressing today? How can you embody an alternative to this idolatry? 

Think of people you know who are not followers of Jesus. What are the stories they tell about finding meaning in their life? How could that be a starting point for sharing the gospel with them?
