Acts | Church Drama | Lesson Three

The Rev. Dr. Leigh Spruill, Dr. Kira Moolman Pettit

This week, join the Rev. Dr. Leigh Spruill and Dr. Kira Moolman Pettit as they discuss Peter’s sermon in Acts 2:14-47. Don’t forget that we very recently heard about Peter’s betrayal and the forgiveness of Jesus in the gospel of Luke. Now we get to see Peter’s transformation as he boldly proclaims to the crowd about who Jesus is through the power of the Holy Spirit. People convert and we get a glimpse of what the life of the early church was like: teaching, fellowship, eating, praying, miracles, communal life, and more conversions!

Discussion questions:

Hearing Peter’s sermon, what sticks out to you about Joel’s prophecy?

When you read about the early church, what is most compelling to you? Look at verses 42-47 and choose a verb or two that would have drawn you in to that community.

Have you ever been part of a Christian community that models that kind of early church community and ethos? What gets in the way?
